Dylan Singh – Director/Performer/Creator

Dylan Singh is a second-generation circus performer and cultural practitioner working closely with the wider First Nations arts sector to help young artists find their voice, giving confidence to the next generation of artists. A strong part of the Australian circus community, Dylan has been making works with some of the most iconic contemporary circus companies and organisations nationally – representing his culture and people through his art. As well as performing, Dylan has established The Dreaming Project, a First Nations arts company to give voice and power to artists working with all forms, guided by traditions to help guide and ground the artists they work with.

Dylan’s influence on the circus and First Nations arts space supports the creation of beautiful, form-engaged works that give space to discuss the current political, social, and environmental issues society faces.

The Dreaming Project

The Dreaming Project is a First Nations-owned community-based arts company run by Dylan Singh in partnership with other arts organisations. We put dreaming stories on stage in place. Our team uses a wide range of styles and approaches to showcase dreaming stories specific to each site, providing audiences with an opportunity to learn and participate in cultural practices.

We create immersive work through a fusion of circus, physical theatre, projection art, music, dance, visual arts and more, that blends dynamic styles and forms to showcase the vast diversity of Australia’s peoples and places.

We aim to support communities by involving them in all stages of the development process, from workshops to internships. The Dreaming Project follows specific protocols of practice that enable us to collaborate with any community and help bring their stories to life.
