Moonah Arts Centre Creative Development Residency

Each year, in partnership with Performing Lines Tasmania, Moonah Arts Centre offers a suite of residencies for local performing artists; emerging and established, to develop a creative project in the Performance Studio, with access to professional technical support. 

This residency provides artists with the time and space to test ideas, explore new collaborations, and develop their work without the pressure of a final outcome. 

To be eligible, applicants must be either a current resident of the City of Glenorchy or an alumnus of the Performing Lines Tasmania Regional Artist Residency (RAR) 

As part of the residency, the successful applicant will receive: 

• Five days of full access to the Performance Studio at Moonah Arts Centre  
• Four hours with a professional sound and lighting technician  
• Dedicated time to plan, collaborate, and share ideas with Moonah Arts Centre’s Creative Producer  
• The option to present a public outcome at the conclusion of the residency (this is not a requirement)  

Accessibility options are available, including alternative hours and flexible arrangements to support participation. 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria: 

• Have participated in a Performing Lines Tasmania Artist Residency in the previous year; or  
• Be a resident of the City of Glenorchy.  

Please note: Artists who have participated in the program within the past three years are not eligible to apply.

Who Should Apply

We welcome applications from performing artists interested in developing a creative project at any stage of their career, including: 

• Artists at the beginning of their practice  
• Mid-career artists  
• Senior artists with significant experience  

We encourage applications from a wide range of disciplines, including writers, directors, makers, dancers, performers, sound designers, and choreographers. Collaborative teams working on a single concept are also encouraged to apply; applications should be submitted under the name of the project’s lead artist.
