24 Hour Grumble Boogie

Betty Grumble

Off the back of her wildly successful national tour of Enemies of Grooviness Eat Sh!t, Local person of interest, Betty Grumble unites with fierce lover and warrior of music and community, DJ HipHopHoe for 24 hours of dance invitation, movement meditation and deep time feeling. 24 Hour Grumble Boogie is an all day and all night surreal aerobics class; communal celebration of aliveness; durational way back in, through and with.

Harnessing utopian energies gifted from their own experiences of queerness, the two artists and soul sisters blend choreography, music, protest and pleasures, taking over Bay 20 of Carriageworks in a simultaneous creative rite of passage and pursuit of restorative energy that transcends the physical and psychic schedule of the status quo. So bring your dancing shoes.

Featuring international and local performance art legends, making up a team of electric facilitators, we welcome your shimmering bodies into a magnificent Thank You Body.

Experience wild abandon as the hours pass, the feet move, the hearts pump and the serotonin builds; this personal and political work combines conflicting emotions love and grief, rage and empathy to forge a path to recovery and repair through movement and humour. Stay for a little or stay ‘til the end, re-visit, or swap from the in-person experience to livestream.

24 Hour Grumble Boogie is the “you had to be there” experience of 2023; a joyful dance of pain and hope; a show-stopping spectacle to open Sydney WorldPride.

Thank you, Body!

Grumble shares the eco-sexual energy from her body to our bodies, inviting us through a portal to experience a life-affirming, shame-free zone of glamour spells, orgasms, shit, paint, poetry and Grooviness.” — Perth Arts
