Antoinette Barbouttis

[Barbouttis’] Håmlet – A New Australian Play is extraordinary, in what it wants to say, and how it wants to say it.

Antoinette Barbouttis is a Sydney-based writer and fine artist. Antoinette’s own theatre works include håmlet – a new Australian play, Cool Pool Party, Sydney Theatre Buses and Cool Pool Party 2: Graduation. Antoinette was awarded the Philip Parsons Award and was nominated for a Sydney Theatre Award (Acting). She is a prize-winning portrait artist, with a background in both fine arts and theatre holding BFA from the National Art School and an MFA from the National Institute of Dramatic Art. Recently, she collaborated on John Safran’s book Squat, in which they travelled to Los Angeles to examine the rise of antisemitism in 2023, focusing on Kanye West’s offensive antics. Antoinette has been supported by Performing Lines to create her latest play, Sylvania Waters.
