Emily Shen joins the Performing Lines Board

Performing Lines are delighted to welcome Emily Shen to the company Board.

Emily is a senior lawyer in the Fintech + Web3 team of Gilbert + Tobin’s Corporate Advisory practice. Her expertise focuses on navigating complex financial services regulatory regimes in the context of payments, fintech and crypto. She has significant experience providing tailored advice to institutions of all sizes with respect to product, governance, risk and strategy.

Board Chair Natalie Jenkins said of the appointment,

I am pleased to welcome Emily Shen joining the Performing Lines Board after being our Board Observer in 2025.  In addition to having a professional connection to the performing arts, previously working as a arts and culture journalist covering theatre and dance, Emily brings comprehensive strategic, risk and governance skills that will enhance the knowledge-base and strength of the Board. Performing Lines enters their second year as part of the NPAPF with a formidable team in place to represent and elevate the exceptional independent artists they support.

Emily is pleased to be joining the board from March 2026.

I am delighted to be joining the Performing Lines Board full time, after an insightful year with the The Observership Program. This organisation holds a critical place in the national arts sector, supporting and enabling independent artists to create and thrive. I’m excited to bring my skills and experience to the Board to help Performing Lines continue to grow and flourish.

Performing Lines is also pleased to welcome Fungai Mutsiwa as our 2026 Board Observer in The Observership Program. Previously based in Harare and Capetown, Fungai has experience across financial services, people strategy and product development and brings a global, intersectional perspective shaped by his experience as a multilingual Black migrant.
