Performing Lines primarily works with independent artists and companies from the small to medium Australian contemporary performing arts sector to realise great ideas on a bigger platform for a broader audience. We also deliver specific strategic initiatives that we manage for the Australia Council for the Arts and state government arts funding agencies.
We work with individual artists and arts companies:
- on specific projects developing and producinga work from an idea or early development: for example, Nicola Gunn’s Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster; Nakkiah Lui’s Blackie Blackie Brown; Lz Dunn’s Aeon ;Tanja Liedtke’s Twelfth Floor; Ghenoa Gela’s My Urrwai; and Martin del Amo’s Songs Not To Dance To
- over a longer period of time producing and touringa number of projects and supporting the longer term viability and sustainability of artists, often to the point of becoming their own company: for example, Kate Champion/Force Majeure; Gavin Webber and Grayson Millwood/The Farm; Sensorium; Gravity and Other Myths; and Branch Nebula.
- to tour existing works nationally or internationally: for example, ILBIJERRI’S Jack Charles v The Crown; Gravity and Other Myths’ A Simple Space; Racing Pulse Production’s Baulkham Hills African Ladies Troup; and Meryl Tankard’s The Oracle.
We maintain extensive and diverse touring networks that keep us up-to-date and in contact with producers, festivals and presenters around Australia and internationally – allowing us to reach audiences everywhere from Tennant Creek to Glasgow, Rome to Singapore, Beijing to Vancouver.
