Performing Lines primarily works with artists and companies from the small to medium Australian contemporary performing arts sector. We work alongside artists and arts companies to realise great ideas on a bigger platform for a broader audience. We also deliver specific strategic initiatives that we manage for the Australia Council for the Arts and state government arts funding agencies.
We work with individual artists and arts companies:
- on specific projects right from the start, developing and producing a work from an idea or early development: for example Tanja Liedtke’s Twelfth Floor; Erth’s The Nargun and the Stars; Chooky Dancers’ Ngurru-milmarramiriw (Wrong Skin) and Animal Farm Collective’s Food Chain.
- over a longer period of time producing and touring a number of projects: we have worked with William Yang on his theatre works since 1994, including I am a Camera, My Generation and China (and undertaking 15 international tours); we produced and toured Kate Champion’s work (including Already Elsewhere) until she established Force Majeure in 2002 with Same, Same But Different.
- to tour existing works nationally or internationally: for example Splintergroup’s roadkill and lawn, Animal Farm Collective’s Food Chain and Meryl Tankard’s The Oracle.
We maintain extensive and diverse touring networks that keep us up-to-date and in contact with producers, festivals and presenters around Australia and internationally – allowing us to reach audiences everywhere from Tennant Creek to Glasgow, Rome to Singapore, Beijing to Vancouver.
Approach us about your project. Get in touch and invite us to your production or showing: there is no substitute for seeing a show live.
