The intimate beats of our emotional lives find mesmerising physical expression in Love Me’s three short dance works, from acclaimed choreographer Lucy Guerin.

A woman dances her heart out under the oblivious gaze of a projected lover (Reservoir of Giving). Body fragments twist and flex in pockets of light in a disturbing struggle for control, as On teeters on the brink of off. And in Melt, “a perfect miniature jewel of a dance” (Dance Australia), two bodies engage in a duet of icy detachment to the boiling point of human emotion.
The three works feature projected light, image, choreography and sound, and each consider themes of containment in relationships, and the associated ambiguities, ambivalences and manipulations.
Guerin’s precise choreography seamlessly integrates the work of some of Australia’s best dancers with Michaela French’s beautifully detailed motion graphics and David Rozetsky’s film work – to a soundtrack spanning cool jazz (Paul Healy), sparse intensity (Darren Verhagen) and lush beats (Francois Tetaz).
